Material flow analysis and modeling

The basis for the material flow analysis is to account for the material and energy streams. This can only happen if there is a sound knowledge of the existing production processes so first of all, the examined processes are mapped and broken down into steps. These steps will be assigned their incoming and outgoing energy and materials, from where a conclusive summary of the whole process will be made. Since costs can directly be allocated to individual material streams, the whole process can be economically analyzed.

The material flow analysis can also include a model of the process that is made by specific software. For this purpose ECA Concept primarily uses the well-established “Umberto NXT” modeling software. Such a process model not only allows for the mapping of the current state, but it also allows for the simulation of possible efficiency measures so that their impact can be examined in detail. Displaying the material streams in a Sankey-diagram allows for a clearly arranged visualization and creates transparency for our clients.
