GAP Analysis

In addition to electricity and energy tax returns, there are other reasons to introduce an energy management system in accordance with DIN EN ISO 50001. The whole process of purchase and use of energy often reveals so many weak points that an investment in an energy management system can return a profit within a few months.

The purpose of the GAP analysis is to establish the bases for a successful certification and to determine the precise effort for setting up an energy management system in accordance with DIN EN ISO 50001. Consequently, the GAP analysis represents an integral part of the preparation for a future certification in accordance with DIN EN ISO 50001.

In doing so, the question of how standard-compliant the previously collected data and structures have been so far, should be addressed.

Besides the situation-analysis in relation to the requirements of DIN EN ISO 50001, an energy efficiency analysis within the scope of the examination will be conducted by ECA Concept.

The framework of the GAP analysis includes the following services on our part:

  • Determining and classifying the company’s existing energy flows in kWh and €

  • Revealing and prioritizing of weak points and energy efficiency potentials

  • Recommendations for linking energy cycles, which means using wasted energy from the company itself in another place where it can be more useful

  • Energetic (in kWh) and monetary (in €) evaluation within the scope of energy efficiency potentials revealed by the GAP analysis

  • Recommendations for technical and economic measures to eliminate technical weak points

  • Estimation of the required investment costs to eliminate discovered weak points

  • Assessing the current data situation as well as the company structure with regard to the introduction of an energy management system in accordance to DIN EN ISO 50001

  • Determining the degree of readiness for certification

Naturally, the content of the GAP analysis can be agreed upon individually – feel free to contact us!
