Transition to ISO 14001:2015
In mid-September 2015 the new DIN EN ISO 14001:2015 was publicized and replaced the version of the year 2004. The transitional period for DIN EN ISO 14001:2015 started on 15.09.2015 and ends on 14.09.2018. Companies that are certified in accordance with ISO 14001:2004 or rather the correction version of the year 2009, have a maximum of 3 years to adapt their environmental management system to ISO 14001:2015.
ECA Concept will show you all significant amendments and support you with the implementation, by means of workshops upon request.
Introduction and operation
The management system is usually comprised of the assessment of the environmental aspects that need to be taken into account, the agreement of the resulting goals and the pursuing objectives, and the creation of an environmental management manual together with the environmentally relevant process instructions and process descriptions in accordance with DIN EN ISO 14001.
A transition to the new DIN EN ISO 14001:2015 includes especially the following services:
Support with the analysis of the context of the organization:
The organization has to set external and internal issues that influence the direction of the environmental management system significantly. This specifically contains environmental conditions that affect the operational activity of the company, including goods and services.
For this reason the organization must identify the parties that are relevant to their environmental management system and determine the relevant requirements and expectations of said parties.
Measures for dealing with risks and opportunities:
The determination of the risks and opportunities are connected to significant environmental aspects and binding obligations. These ensure that the organization is capable of achieving the intended results of its management system, prevent or reduce undesirable effects, and continuously improve.
ECA Concept develops suitable methods with the organization and introduces a risk management process which determines the risks and opportunities.
Furthermore, this service takes into account the determination of significant environmental aspects while applying set criteria over the whole cycle: from the raw material extraction, to the development and production, to the transport and usage, and finally the disposal. Important environmental aspects can in turn result in risks and opportunities.
Development of environmental objectives and planning of measures for their achievement:
Environmental objectives have to particularly be in line with environmental policy, be measurable, and monitorable.
To fulfil these requirements, meaningful key figures are developed with the organization.
When setting environmental objectives and key figures, one has to consider that there could be situations where it is not possible to measure an environmental objective. It is however important that in this case the organization is able to detect whether an environmental objective has been achieved or not. ECA Concept develops such detection methods with the organization.
